55-Ton Cyclotron Delivered
The RMSFF-supported cutting-edge proton therapy system (Cyclotron) traveled more than 4,600 miles from Belgium to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida. It was lifted into the Richard M. Schulze Proton Therapy Center vault on April 22, 2025.
The Foundation’s philanthropic gift of $15 million to Moffitt will help offer patients the most advanced and precise form of radiation therapy. The center will use the ProteusONE proton therapy system. The unit is the most advanced compact proton therapy solution on the market and offers highly targeted treatment for various cancers while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The treatment is especially effective for pediatric patients and tumors near vital organs.
