Dick Schulze, the founder of Best Buy, Inc., created his family foundation in 2004. His intent was to give back to the communities where he grew up, raised his family, and built Best Buy, Inc. — the world’s largest consumer electronics retailer.
Health & Medicine Focus
The Schulze family understands the challenges families endure while battling a life-limiting disease. Our founder knows the unthinkable can happen and hinder successful futures for families.
In that spirit, we support health and healing through healthcare and healthcare providers.
We also recognize the importance of entrepreneurial thought. We look for promising transformational ideas that challenge the norm.

Education & Human Services Focus
The Foundation is based on Dick’s belief that a good education, a supportive family, and a strong work ethic prepare children for a successful future.
As such, we accept proposals from organizations operating in the areas of education (including college scholarship awards) and Human & Social Services.

We are selective.
While there’s good work going on in a lot of places, generally, the foundation either does not or cannot support everything.
Please review our eligibility criteria for what we do not fund and what we fund by invitation only.
