Our Health Care Advisor

The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation has been involved in issues of health and medicine since its founding. The family and the board have become familiar with a number of respected physician/researchers and other experts over the years. They have engaged as advisors several upon whom they rely for advice on matters that go beyond the expertise of the board and that of the foundation staff.

Our current advisor and trusted friend is Dr. Jakub Tolar, University of Minnesota, who makes recommendations on the very few research proposals that we invite to be submitted to the foundation for consideration.

The Foundation rarely funds biomedical research. When it does, it is focusing its attention on stem cells and regenerative medicine and retains a special interest in cancer and diabetes. Only research proposals that have short-term prospects of in-clinic application are of interest to the foundation and are accepted, again, by invitation only.
